AAA Projects Fewer People Traveling the Roadways this Thanksgiving

During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, AAA expects 43.4 million Americans to hit the roadways, which is a decrease of 1.5% from the 44 million who traveled last year. Why the projected dip in holiday traffic? According to Marshall Doney, AAA’s chief operating officer, more people are staying home this year due to the economy and its “sluggish pace of improvement.”
Fortunately, for those who are traveling this week, gas prices will be at their lowest since 2010. Along with a reduction in fuel costs, the National Safety Council (NSC) projects an 8% decline in the number of traffic fatalities this holiday weekend compared to the same time last year. So, it looks like we can all be thankful for less traffic congestion, lower fuel costs and less vehicle crashes this Thanksgiving holiday.
On behalf of the NexTraq team, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
