The 2013 Vehicle Trends Report from Beverage World magazine is in. Its recent article entitled, “Rolling Forward,” showcases the 2013 report and how fleet management is becoming both a science and art. The survey reflects the challenges beverage companies face with their operations, including fleet concerns that change yearly, monthly and even daily. It also highlights technologies that are available to fleet managers including environmentally friendly products and onboard technologies.
Here is a quick overview of the report and a few results that stood out to us the most:
Respondents of Beverage World’s Report ranged from beverage distributors to beverage franchise companies with varying company sizes, locations and operating fleet sizes.
The survey consisted of categories that ranged from vehicle type and on-board technology to major concerns and maintenance.
The survey was conducted January and February of 2013.
To save time, we selected only a few of the results that we found to be most interesting.
1. More than 42% of the fleets in the survey are using location/tracking systems to get a better view of their vehicles’ locations.
2. 85% percent of respondents cited vehicle safety as a top concern with fuel price volatility coming in second and maintenance costs rounding out third.
3. Respondents noted that the three leading areas for maintenance costs are tires, brakes and engines.
4. 70.4% of respondents cited driver training/coaching as part of their alternative fuel/ vehicle strategies.
