Challenge

Established in 2005, family-owned and operated Absolute Comfort Technologies wanted to improve fleet and driver productivity and monitor driver behavior to ensure it was providing its customers with excellent service. Charles Shockley, President of Absolute Comfort Technologies, knew he wanted to implement a GPS fleet tracking solution, but wasn’t sure where to start.

Solution

Shockley researched and evaluated fleet management solutions on and off for two years. He had selected three front runners when a favored vendor was unable to provide an online demo due to network difficulties. Shockley said, “Our demo was cancelled with one company because they were having issues with their system’s availability. After that, the selection process was narrowed.” After working with a NexTraq sales representative that he says was “extremely professional,” Shockley selected the NexTraq Fleet Tracking solution and its Fleet Dispatch application.

Results

Shockley recalls seeing benefits immediately following implementation. “The very first day we were up and running, we could immediately identify a problem with one of our drivers. We now had solid data to back up his behavior and have a discussion about his performance.”

Absolute Comfort Technologies benefited greatly in all areas of its fleet operations from NexTraq’s reporting and alert functionality. Shockley says, “We have a better handle on our payroll hours by using the Start/Stop Report as a weekly timecard and the Begin/End Day Summary Report.”

Additionally, Shockley used the Idle Report to monitor fleet fuel usage and find areas to reduce fuel consumption and cost. With the Fleet Dispatch application in combination with in-vehicle Garmin devices, Shockley is able to dispatch the closest vehicle to a service call to offer better customer service and get more jobs done in a workday.
